What’s a CSA?

Inspired by CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) “vegetable boxes,” the Heliopause Community Supported Artistry program is a way for you to directly support me (Goldeen Ogawa) and my mission to change the world through art and stories. Just like Patreon and Ko-Fi, members subscribe on a monthly or annual basis and receive a variety of regularly delivered rewards.

Why join the CSA?

More than just helping me keep body and soul together financially, joining my CSA provides a powerful piece of support: it creates an audience for my work. Even though art and writing are my life’s calling, it can be a long hard lonely slog, and having a community of folks to share my creations with is a huge motivator to actually create them.

When you join the Heliopause CSA you’re not only helping me keep the lights on, you’re giving me a reason to make art. Every reward in the Heliopause CSA is something I want to be working on, but which I might not work on if I don’t have a Sparks Gallery post to make, or a Valdelluna update to put out. I certainly wouldn’t be recording audiobooks of my stories if I hadn’t promised my subscribers they’d be getting one every month!

To say it’s not about the money wouldn’t be true. It’s about more than the money. It’s about the powerful presence of an audience, and the mutually beneficial relationship between the creator and her community.

I make the art, but you make it real.

How does it work?

Just like an agricultural CSA, or supporting an artist on Patreon and Ko-Fi, members buy a monthly or annual subscription and receive a variety of rewards. In fact, the Heliopause CSA is the basis for Goldeen’s Patreon and Ko-Fi accounts. So whether you join here, there, or anywhere, you will get the same rewards delivered the same way!

So what are the rewards?

CSA rewards consist of art and writing that I want to be doing, or get done, but that I’m not ready to publicly release yet—if ever! Think of it like the ultimate VIP Backstage Pass. Also, some rewards are finished products! Whenever I publish a new book, or produce a new print, sticker, or card, CSA members will get one—depending on their tier. Find detailed descriptions here!

What are the tiers?

Currently there are two tiers of membership: Fellow Explorer (digital only) and Antellonian (digital + physical). Both tiers require a valid email, but only Antellonians need a shipping address. Membership is open to all residents of the planet Earth. Here’s how they compare:

No matter which platform you choose:

• Your rewards and delivery methods are the same.
• You can change your payment method/cancel whenever you like.
• You will receive a confirmation message containing your Digital Welcome Package upon joining (if you’re a new member).
• You’ll begin receiving notification emails as soon as a new CSA reward is posted. These emails will include 1. a link to where you can view and/or download the reward, and 2. a password or code if needed.
• For Antellonians, physical items will be mailed to the address you provide upon joining as they become available.
• One-off contributors will receive rewards for the four (4) weeks following the date of contribution.

Digital and electronic items will be delivered by email or platform message, either embedded, attached, or containing links to content such as protected blog posts or download links, and any necessary access codes or passwords. Purchase of a membership implies consent to receive emails from directly from Goldeen Ogawa and via her websites goldeenogawa.com and heliopause.pro, and any third party mail service she may use to facilitate reward delivery.

Physical items will be shipped via the most economical method. There is no extra charge for shipping, but members are responsible for any applicable taxes and import duties.

Goldeen Ogawa and Heliopause Productions may store email addresses, names, telephone numbers and shipping addresses such as are necessary for fulfillment of CSA reward deliveries. They will only share this information strictly as needed in order to fulfill these deliveries, and will not otherwise share, publish, or sell members’ information.

Members joining through Ko-Fi or Patreon will have their subscriptions managed by those platforms. Members purchasing shares directly from Heliopause will have their subscriptions managed by the Heliopause Team using tools provided by either PayPal.com or Squareup.com. In no case will Goldeen Ogawa or Heliopause Productions store credit card information.

The goal here is to share art and stories. If you have a friend, or know someone that you think would benefit from some art, you can share your rewards with them. That being said, members are paying for this content, so please share discreetly (no posting those passwords on social media!) or consider purchasing a share as a gift for your friend. Gift shares may be purchased via Heliopause by ticking the “This is a gift” box and filling in the relevant information.
